Alongside our residential and commercial work, Gisler Architects specialises in providing excellent architectural services to educational institutions in the greater Waikato and Bay of Plenty. Well-known in this sector for many years, Director Tim Gisler’s involvement in educational architecture provision dates back to the 1980’s.

Today, Gisler Architects’ commitment continues to be towards creating innovative architectural outcomes, which allow students and staff to reach their greatest potential. Stimulating school environments, for users to work and learn in, remain our passion.

In providing this service, Gisler Architects works closely with the Ministry of Education and each school’s Board of Trustees to provide modern facilities that exceed the stated guidelines for students, staff, provision of the curriculum, special needs, technology and health and safety.

Over the years, Gisler Architects’ experience has included the full range of school buildings at primary, intermediate and secondary school level; including administration and student services blocks, general and specialist classrooms, libraries, laboratories, technology and information technology spaces, halls, performing arts/music/drama centres and Wharenui.

Project Management

The Ministry of Education requires projects of this nature to have a an engaged project manager, but when working with Gisler Architects, a separate appointment is not necessary. A large portion of our role as architects includes project management and we frequently regularly administer construction contracts, attend regular on-site meetings, manage cost and quality control, liaise with clients and contractors and assess and approve progress payment claims. With our expert knowledge of the design and construction process, we are able to address issues as they occur and can offer relevant solutions, saving you time and expense.

Strategic Planning

We pride ourselves on being heavily involved in the future proofing of schools, providing development plans for larger school projects where direction is needed to guide current projects.

Curriculum growth and technological advances can prove a challenge when it comes to planning and budgeting into the future, but we understand the related trends and can work with your Board of Trustees to develop a specific plan around your schools growth and both the five and ten year needs of the property. Once discussed, plans can be put in place and worked through with the Board of Trustees, in partnership.

We look forward to visiting your school and discussing your maintenance and capital works requirements. We’ll work with you to provide quality, forward-thinking and cost-effective architectural solutions that address the needs of your students and staff and exceed the mandated guidelines.
